Eclipse

Eclipse is a group for adults who have survived a suicide attempt. The group is a chance to meet and talk to others who have survived a suicide attempt and offers an opportunity to learn skills that may help participants to cope with feelings and thoughts of suicide, in order to stay safe in the future.

Group format and participation

The support group is a closed, confidential group. Participants all start at the same time and complete the eight weeks together, making it more comfortable to share personal information. It is important for participants to attend all groups if possible.

Expectations for the group

Eclipse is a support group, not therapy. We recommend that group participants have additional resources outside of the group such as counsellors or therapists.

"Suicide" can be a hard word to say, let alone be a topic of conversation. In the Eclipse group, we are not afraid to talk about suicide. Conversations about what got us to the point where being dead was seen as a better option than living. Conversations about what might be reasons to stay alive; about strategies that may be helpful in keeping us safe, so we can see a more hopeful future.

In the group, you will find a safe, non-judgemental atmosphere where you will be able to talk about the things that you don't like to burden family and friends with.

The group will be held for two hours a week for eight weeks and is free to attend. No referral is required however the support of a health professional is encouraged.
