We cannot accept book donations this month and thank you for your understanding.

Donation check list

Clean resalable books / items

Books / items to be packed flat in boxes no more than 10 kg in weight.

If you don’t have boxes please place your books / items in cloth bags.

If the books / items are damaged or soiled we are unable to accept them due to the high cost in recycling them.

Please note

We cannot accept the following:

  • Any item not meeting our quality standards (any books that are yellowed, mouldy, torn, dirty, written in, or defaced can unfortunately not be sold)

Important / Where

Due to an extreme level of unsorted book donations we are closing incoming book donations to Auburn St sorting from Monday May 1 to Friday June 2 and reopen for donations on Monday June 5.

When

8:30 am – 2:30 pm

Please do not leave donations outside the above times/days.

About Your Donations, Where & How They are used

Donating your pre-loved books is one of the most effective ways we can raise the necessary funding to continue providing our suicide prevention and mental health services in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region. Your book donations go towards our Lifeline South Coast Shops as well as the Lifeline Big Book Fair. Providing the condition is good-to-excellent, no donation of books is ever too small.

WHat COndition do my books need to be IN to Be donateD?

A general rule is that if it’s good enough to gift to a friend, it’s good enough to donate. If the books / items are damaged or soiled, we are unable to accept them due to the high cost in recycling them.

What Type of Books do you accept?

We accept:

  • Paperback books
  • Hardcover books
  • Comics, graphic novels & manga
  • Magazines with a face value greater than $10 and in good condition
  • Text books – late editions only, not defaced

What books will you not accept?

  • Reader’s Digest condensed books
  • Law books, older than 3 Years
  • Encyclopaedias, no matter how new
  • Atlases older than 3 years
  • Magazines under $10 face value or in poor condition, or older than 2 years
  • National Geographic magazines
  • Telephone books or street directories
  • Text books, unless recent & in mint condition
  • Any item not meeting our quality standards (any books that are yellowed, mouldy, torn, dirty, written in, or defaced can unfortunately not be sold)

Can I donate my books at Big Book Fair?

Yes, you can donate your books at the Big Book Fair. There will be a tent outside the stadium where you can drop off your books.
