Out of the Shadows Walk

Coinciding with World Suicide Prevention Day, 10 September, the Out of the Shadows Walk unites people from different backgrounds and communities who have been impacted by the death of a loved one through suicide.

You can make a difference by participating in Lifeline South Coast’s Out of the Shadows walk for suicide prevention, held to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day, September 10 every year.

When: Tuesday, 10 September 2024 at 5:45am

Where: Flagstaff Point Lighthouse  Wollongong OR Hanging Rock Sporting Complex, Batemans Bay

Distance: 2km

The walk is a 2km distance which has been intentionally chosen to be accessible to participants of all ages, fitness levels and abilities, ensuring that everyone can take part in this event.

There will be a short ceremony after the walk. Hear from one of our Lifeline Ambassadors, and leave a message on our Tree of Hope. A coffee van will also be available on the morning.

Wollongong Directions: Please allow yourself enough time to arrive as the event will begin at 5.40am. There are a number of parking spots available on Endeavour Drive (click here for directions), if these are full, turn left at the roundabout for more parking next to City Beach Function Centre.

This walk is a free event for the community. Anyone is welcome to join us on the walk.

You can walk to remember a loved one, as a personal tribute for a friend or family member, or to show your support for those experiencing emotional distress or mental illness.

Sadly, over 3,000 Australians lose their lives to suicide every year.
