Description
Accidental Counsellor uses a blended training model to equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to safely and effectively support friends, family, colleagues, and strangers who are in distress or experiencing crisis. Applicable across many contexts, the course provides attendees with a structure to deliver immediate assistance using the ‘Recognise, Respond, Refer’ model, and supports them to develop skills in active listening and gentle questioning. Participants also learn how to openly ask about suicide risk, respond in a safe and supportive way, and refer to the appropriate support services.
The blended training model allows participants to undertake 1.5 hours of eLearning online at their own convenience, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and share personal experiences during the 3.5 hours spent within an interactive classroom.
