Lifeline South Coast (NSW) is part of the national Lifeline network providing all Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. Somewhere in Australia there is a new call to Lifeline every minute. The Lifeline South Coast call catchment area runs the coastal strip from Helensburgh in the north, to the Victorian border in the south. In addition to the crisis service, the organisation also provides a financial counselling service, and corporate and community suicide prevention training. Lifeline South Coast is an activity of Wollongong Mission, Wesley Uniting Church on the Mall.

We are currently seeking a Chief Executive Officer who is dedicated, community focused and has outstanding leadership and communication skills. The Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic and operational leadership; ensure its effective implementation; and be accountable for the organisation's service delivery and profit-for-purpose retail operations.

Job Description

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible for the daily management of Lifeline South Coast including staffing; budget preparation and management; resource allocation; succession planning for senior management; and ensuring a safe workplace. The CEO will undertake effective deployment of the Board's strategic and policy decisions; continually evaluate the organisation's performance against KPIs and the Lifeline South Coast Strategic Plan; and ensure succinct and relevant reporting to the Board occurs. A key aspect of the role is to scan the environment to ensure that Lifeline South Coast is providing effective crisis support and other services which meet the need of the community, as well as to identify new opportunities. To support this activity, the CEO will ensure an appropriate mix of funding is secured including fundraising and retail operations, to support the services delivered by Lifeline South Coast. This will require the ability to develop and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders.


The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate relevant experience in an executive position and possess the following skills and knowledge:

Desirable Selection Criteria

  • Formal Qualifications in Human Services
