Become a Book Fair Volunteer.

Lifeline South Coast is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to help at the Big Book Fair!

The Big Book Fair fundraiser will take place on the 20 – 22 of March 2020 at the Illawarra Sports Stadium, Berkeley.

Over 80,000 books will be on display in over 50 categories. Books include, fiction, non-fiction, hobbies, travel, children’s books, art, science, history, rare books, and more.

The Big Book Fair is Lifeline South Coast’s major fundraising event for their 24-hour Telephone Crisis Support Service in the Illawarra and South Coast on 13 11 14.

Volunteers are an integral part of the Lifeline South Coast Big Book Fair.

Every year a team of dedicated volunteers work to ensure that the Big Book Fair is a continued success.

Can you help at our Big Book Fair?

Volunteers are needed for a range of tasks at the Big Book Fair.

Tasks Include:

  • set-up and pack-down
  • staffing the tally tables (people who are good with numbers would be perfect for this role)
  • operating cash registers and Eftpos machines (prior experience is useful)
  • crowd control
  • security
  • selling bags

Year round Lifeline South Coast volunteers also do an amazing job collecting, sorting, pricing and packing books for the event.

The Lifeline South Coast book sorting team are a dedicated, friendly and knowledgeable group of volunteers who manage to sort, clean, research, price, and pack around 200,000 books per year!

As a result of volunteer work, numerous books are made available at the Big Book Fair as well as the Wollongong and Corrimal Lifeline Shops.

There are a range of volunteer roles available at the Book Sorting section located in Unanderra.
