Description
As the leading cause of death amongst Australians between the ages of 15 and 44, suicide has a devastating impact on individuals, families, workplaces, and entire communities. Community awareness, connections, and resilience is critical to suicide prevention, recognising the important role of the wider population in building mentally healthy communities that are well-networked and resourceful.
Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) training is a short workshop that equips attendees with the skills required to recognise those who may be contemplating suicide, so that they can both respond in a supportive manner and refer them towards professional help. Delivered within a convenient time frame, QPR is an excellent tool for people who want to become alert to the dangers of suicide, develop the confidence to talk about suicidal thoughts, and be able to connect people at risk to professional care.
